Fuel Tanks: Tank Fabrication Process As soon as you send us a drawing we are on the job. After quoting we then wait for your approval and the shop drawing is made. The drawing then goes into the shop where a material list is made specifically for the tank. We use only marine grade aluminum (5052). The material is sheared, bent, and holes are punched in it to show exact fitting locations. From then one of our experienced welders tack the tank together, install baffles and thoroughly clean the inside of the tank. Our baffling is set every 30 inches in any direction. Our baffling meets or exceeds USCG regulations. We do this to protect the tank from sloshing and to promote load level stability. The tank is seamed together and the fittings are installed. We only use top quality fittings and stainless steel bushings. Finally the tank is pressure tested to 5 pounds air psi and is coated with a two-component epoxy which is chemical and gas resistant.
